On September 6, 2023, 14 participants from 8 countries paid a courtesy call to Tetsuo Saito, Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Minister Saito congratulated the participant on their completion of the course. The Minister also mentioned his own experience in seismic research and expressed his wish for the participants’success in their careers as leaders on seismic disaster management with making the best use of this training.
International Institute of Seismology and Earthquake Engineering (IISEE) of BRI, Japan International Cooperation Agency(JICA), and National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies(GRIPS) held the one-year training course for seismology, earthquake engineering and tsunami disaster mitigation. on August 24 2023, participants visited the Nojima fault in Awaji Island in experiential learning about the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake.
